Chanelle Andrews
IBCLC, PMH-C
With our son, my husband and I took all the classes to prepare for his arrival. And when he arrived? None of it mattered; I didn’t have natural labor. I had complications from my epidural. And breastfeeding? Yea. We came home with this bulky, yellow thing and formula. Google became our frenemy. There was SO MUCH information. It felt like trying to piece together the most impossible puzzle. Eventually we figured things out and got into a rhythm. I breastfed via pumping for one entire year.
My daughter was different. She was the second born. So we knew what we were doing, right? WRONG! Little Miss “Fresh From the Tap or Put It Back” wanted no parts of bottle feeding. We nursed directly for fifteen months before her gym”nurse”stics routines landed her on the banned from my boobs list.
I pumped with her also and became an unintentional informal milk donor. (Remember her motto!)
When I say I understand that sometimes breastfeeding sucks… I mean it! And even the most well intentioned advice and websites can lead us down an infinite rabbit hole. All we want is for it to all MAKE SENSE! And that’s where I come in!
No more late night web searches. No more panicked social media posts. No more feeling like somehow you’re failing because “this is natural.” My goal is always to help every family and every baby to make it all make sense for them.
