Preparing for Your Consult

Thank you for booking a visit with us! We cannot wait to meet with you to help you make sense of this whole feeding your baby thing! While you are waiting in anticipation for your consult day to arrive, here are a few things you need to know ahead of time:

  • Preparing for Your Visit
    1. Check Your Email (including Spam/Promotions): Important info, including your care plan, will be sent by email. All consent and intake forms must be completed 12 hours before your visit to avoid cancellation.
    2. List Your Concerns: Jot down questions or concerns you want to discuss—this helps us create the best care plan for you.
    3. For Virtual Visits: Ensure a strong internet connection, and test Zoom in advance (camera/mic access required). Choose a quiet, well-lit space and minimize distractions.
    4. Ask Anything: There are no stupid questions. If something is unclear, speak up—we’re here to help.
    5. Stay Present: Please give your full attention during the session for the best experience.
    6. Learn by Doing: We’ll teach, model, and then ask you to try. This hands-on learning builds confidence.
    7. Help Us Investigate: We may ask you to take photos or videos of things like feeding, pumping, or tummy time for a better assessment.
    8. Feeding Guidelines: Try to feed your baby about an hour before our visit. If exclusively pumping, please don’t pump right before we begin.
    9. Track Baby’s Intake: If using bottles or formula, note the amounts given over the past 24 hours. Also, track wet/dirty diapers for the same period.
    10. Pet Allergy Notice: I’m severely allergic to animals with dander (even hamsters!). Please secure pets away from the visit area.
    11. Bring Your Tools: Have your breastfeeding tools ready—pumps, shields, creams, pillows, etc.
    12. Feeding Location: We’ll meet where you normally feed your baby—wherever you’re most comfortable.
    13. Have Your App or Feeding Chart Ready: If you’re tracking feedings, please have that info available.
    14. Sibling Support: While siblings are welcome and curious, please plan ahead to help us stay focused on your session.

I know. This is A LOT! But it helps to be sure we are able to get a clear picture on what’s been going on before my arrival, so we can work to improve things after my departure. See you soon!
